Jan. 31: The Maple Psychological Women’s Center was invited by government representatives to participate a consultative meeting which also included UN Women, the National Women's Federation, social service organizations, cooperation agencies and relevant United Nations agencies. The meetings goal was for the Chinese delegation to participate in the first 57th Session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women. The 57th Session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women will be held on 4-15 March 2013 in New York, the theme is to eliminate and prevent all violence against women and girls.
March 9-10: British Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO) expert, Mr. Simon Brown (Asia-Pacific Corporate Relations Manager) and Miss Wang Qinghua (District Project Officer) were invited to the Maple center, the center held workshops and strategy meetings focusing on trajectory for the next 3-5 years. The meeting was attended by more than 20 persons from all walks of life from the foundations, women's federations, businesses, and public circle.
March 11: The Maple Women’s Center invited to participate in the 2015 after Millennium Project Seminar. Center’s Yao Yue (CEO), focused on advocacy progress made since the establishment of the program. The program covered two vulnerable groups, women and children in domestically abusive homes and migrant women. The meeting also focused on mission and project activities, and demonstrated the results.
Maple organizes “March 8th Anti-Domestic Violence Advocacy Activities ":
The event included a psychological drama based on real cases adapted by the Center’s "Say it out Loud” campaign, and a quiz competition with prizes. At the event, teacher Li Hongtao (Network against Domestic Violence), discussed the concept of domestic violence and how to intervene to the audience with a detailed introduction. Zhong Ze legal expert, Zhang Weiwei, talked about the importance of evidence. The whole event ended with consultation of the on-site participants.
