Of a total of 1,858 netizens' responses to an online survey, 54.6 percent said they suffered from domestic violence. The Anti-Domestic Violence Questionnaire was conducted jointly by the Maple Women's Psychological Counseling Center and Netease Woman Channel on April 18, 2012 and ran through to the end of May 10, 2012.

The "Speak out—Say it out Loud" Global Anti-Domestic Violence Action in China started in Beijing before the International Day of Families on May 13, 2012. Its aim is to combat domestic violence and it also advocates harmonious life. The Questionnaire is considered an important activity in China.

According to the results of the survey, among the 1,858 netizens who were polled, there were 1,007 victims of domestic violence, accounting for 54.6 percent. The survey covered all forms of violence.

Most netizens suffering domestic violence were afraid to broadcast it publicly, and considered it their own business, while 38 percent of victims turned to family and friends for help. There were many reasons for not seeking help, but the main one "help doesn't work, your own business can be solved by yourself", accounted for 30.6 percent.

The purpose of the "Say it out Loud" campaign was to declare to the public that domestic violence is not OK, is a criminal violation of human rights, and that no one in any case has a reason or an excuse to violate another person's personal safety. If anybody encounters domestic violence, they should "say it out loud".
